Forget colour pop - fashion at the Cannes Film Festival is bright, clean and white.
In what seems to be a backlash against current trends (think florals and colour blocking) the female stars in Cannes have signalled the start of Summer with a total white-out.
Alexa Chung, Rachel McAdams, Elizabeth Olsen and Uma Thurman are just some of the big names who have flown the white flag so far.
Cheryl Cole stunned the crowds at the Habemus Papam premiere when she ditched the bold colours she's been championing in the States and wowed in Stephane Rolland with a plunging (and revealing) neckline.
Doutzen Kroes wins the white-out battle
My favourite white-out so far was worn by Dutch model Doutzen Kroes at Tuesday's The Beaver film premiere. She perfectly combines knock-out glamour with clever draping and a relaxed summer vibe. From the daring split to the minimal sandals, this is effortless style at its very best.
Perhaps the stars have been inspired by the Royal Wedding, or maybe they have been looking back to last year's Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, where white first emerged as a huge trend for Summer 2011.
Whatever the case, the popularity of white fashion in Cannes has perfectly set the tone for Summer - and has certainly made me crave clean cuts, wide-legged linen trousers and the 'must-have' all-white maxi dress.
Alexa Chung; Yet again ahead of the fash pack
If you're feeling similarly inspired, there are plenty of beautiful white pieces to choose from, including the white jersey palazzo pants by ASOS and the 'Aditya' wrap dress at All Saints. You could even splash out on the Alice by Temperley 'Cannes' embroidered chiffon dress at Net-A-Porter - perfect for pretty much every summer event I can think of.
