The rise and rise of Nicole Scherzinger

Stylish Nicole has a laugh on Graham Norton's sofa
She's beautiful, talented and in spite of usurping Britain's beloved Cheryl Cole on the US X Factor, we're falling madly in love with Nicole Scherzinger.
Distancing herself skillfully from the controversy surrounding Cheryl and Simon Cowell, a stunning sense of style is the driving force behind Scherzinger's PR coup d'état.
Rather than following trends, or trying to shock with sartorial statements, Nicole plays to her strengths. Her fashion choices are girly, sexy and dramatic, but with a high street feel.
She loves black dresses and is mad for fringing, but she never takes her wardrobe too far.
There are no Gaga-esque frock shocks, but she always has a little surprise in store, whether it's an unexpected print or an inspired selection of bling.

Scherzinger's got talent
On this side of the Atlantic, she made her first sartorial splash, post-Cheryl-gate, at theBritain's Got Talent final. Mixing girlish white ruffles with gold straps and spectacular peep-toe boots, we couldn't help but warm to her smiley, sexy style.

'What's that about my tassels, Enrique?'
Performing with Enrique Iglesias during Capital FM's Summertime Ball at the weekend, she looked red hot in a two-tone tassel detail dress with statement cuffs and earrings. It's another wearable look and her flowing, dressed-down hair just adds to her charm.

These boots are made for stalking
Even backstage at the Capital Ball, when she's vamping it up, her skirt isn't too short and her cleavage isn't on show. The wide embellished belt is an elegant way of emphasising her amazing figure, without showing off any unnecessary flesh.
In spite of having the world's longest legs (and single-handedly bringing thigh-length boots back into vogue - in summer!), Nicole's look is never intimidating. The friendly, approachable aura she projects creeps into everything she wears.
We want to dress like her, and we want to be mates with her - is there any better definition of success in the entertainment industry?
