So nice they did it twice!
After tying the knot in a civil ceremony Friday, Monaco'sPrince Albert II and new bride Charlene Wittstockrepeated their vows in a star-studded religious ceremony.
Held in the courtyard of the prince's royal palace Saturday, the Roman Catholic ceremony's guest list included the likes of Gerard Butler, Karolina Kurkova and fashion designer Giorgio Armani.
Indeed, Armani played a much larger role in the couple's big day: He designed the South African-bred bride's wedding gown.
For her walk down the aisle Saturday, former Olympic swimmer Wittstock, 33, donned a flowing off-white silk duchesse gown with a 15-foot train featuring floral embroidery and Swarovski crystals. Her look was topped off with a "Diamond Spray" tiara created by Lorenz Baumer that featured 11 encrusted diamond pears.
As she basks in newlywed glow, Wittstock can now say she proved wrong those detractors who predicted she'd be a runaway bride.
On Thursday, the Palace slammed rumors on a French website that the new Princess of Monaco had attempted to bail on the wedding and flee to South Africa.
"The Royal Palace formally denies the false allegations published on the site www.lexpress.fr," the statement said, as excerpted by CNN. "The sole intention of these rumors is to seriously damage the image of the Sovereign, as a result of damaging that of Miss Wittstock, and bear down on this happy event."
