Most of us get over the disappointment of not having the figure of a supermodel by seeking comfort in the fact that at least we get to eat three full meals a day.
So Daisy Lowe's revelation that she toned up by eating more than she used to has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works.
'It's no secret that tons of models starve themselves to look the way they do,' Lowe told Grazia.
But Matt Smith's curvy girlfriend is not like all other models.
'Diets don't work for me,' she said. 'If I'm told I can't have something, I just crave it more.'
So the 22-year-old's personal trainer, Nicola Addison, was a bit of a godsend as she actually persuaded the model she wasn't eating enough.
'Under-eating sends your body into starvation mode so you actually store fat,' Addison explained.
The solution for Lowe was to eat more protein and start doing weights.
Addison said: 'Muscle keeps burning calories for 24 hours after training, whereas if you're jogging on the treadmill, you basically only burn calories for that hour.'
Lowe's calorie intake, and the number of calories she burnt, were closely monitored and Addison's team created a tailor-made menu, with meals delivered straight to the model's door.
A typical day included an omelette for breakfast, a protein bar snack, a vegetarian salad for lunch, some nuts and berries and salmon for dinner.

 
'It was difficult,' Lowe admits. 'If I hadn't started seeing some benefits after a week, I would have given up.'
The gym took some getting used to too, but sessions are now an essential part of her daily routine.

'I missed my sessions when I was on holiday recently,' the face of Biba says. She even exercises between shows during fashion week.
Drills include a 'Daffy duck walk' super-squat and 'jumpy lungey' split squats and as the hour of excercise draws to a close, the model really needs to dig deep to keep going.
'The sense of achievement I feel afterwards makes it worthwhile,' she says.
We imagine maintaining a body as perfect as Lowe's is is also a pretty good motivator.
