So Ashlee Simpson was free to really live it up worry-free during a girls holiday to Mexico this week.
The mother-of-one let her hair down, clutching a drink while she danced with her friends by the pool.
The 26-year-old showed off her fantastic figure in a skimpy polka dot bikini and teamed it with a cute straw boater hat.
Singer and actress Ashlee took to the sand later with a friend, and the pair skipped along the shoreline with their drinks in hand before dancing their way up the stairs back to their villa.
Simpson is currently loved-up with her new beau, Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza.
The couple made their public
debut earlier in the month at the season premiere party of his crime
drama, and were seen canoodling at the HBO after party of the Emmy
Awards earlier in the week.
So Ashlee shouldn't be put out when she sees the pictures of her ex Pete Wentz enjoying a day at the park with their son Bronx and his new girlfriend, Meagan Camper.
The Fall Out Boy bassist was spotted with the stunning model and the tot at a park in New York yesterday while Simpson was out of town.
A source close to the pair said that while they are happy, Wentz, 32, is keen to take things slowly.
The source told America's People magazine: 'It's really new and they are taking it slow because there is a little boy at stake.
'He didn't want to introduce Bronx to her if he didn't think she was a good girl. She's really sweet.
'And Pete's in a really good place. He's excited to see where it goes.'
Wentz and Camper are believed to have met around a month ago in Los Angeles.
Ashlee filed for divorce back in February after just three years of marriage.
She and Pete have remained friends however and are regularly seen out and about together with their beloved little boy Bronx.
In a statement announcing their
split, the couple maintained they are civil with each other and remain
friends because of their child.
It said: 'We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx.'
Now, it seems both are ready - and happy - to move on publicly and put their past behind them.
